Exams update Summer 2021

We are writing to provide you with an update regarding the awarding of grades for students studying in Year 11. The Government announced the Summer 2021 exam series will not go ahead as planned. As yet, the government have not released guidance for either schools or families to start to plan what this means.

However, the Department for Education has tweeted out the following image which you may find helpful.

Exams update 2021

This is unsettling news for students, parents and teachers, however, as we respond to an ever changing picture we feel confident we will be able to rise to the challenge and meet any regulations and expectations set by the Government and OFQUAL in order to ensure no students are disadvantaged by this process.

Therefore, as we teach year 11 remotely for now please be advised that we will continue to gather evidence of student's performance which will inform any future predictions we may have to make.  As ever, this period of time is key and so we ask for your support in ensuring;

Students attend all their lessons remotely (we are still required to report on absences)

Students complete all work set by their teachers (this may be critical in collating information for predicted grades)

Students engage fully in their lessons, homework, revision and assessments and continue to meet our high expectations

This will allow us to form an evidence base that gives student's the best opportunities in terms of their qualifications and next steps.  All Schools will no doubt be subject to robust scrutiny for any predications made.

In order to ensure this process is carried out fairly and professionally we ask that students and parents do not contact staff about previous predictions as the GCSE courses have not yet been completed but instead focus on the work and learning that still needs to take place. We have always worked with a strong focus on character and integrity at the heart of our ethos and need everyone to draw upon these now.

Thank you for your support in this matter
