Smart ways for Smart days! Welcoming our new cohort

Hornsey School for Girls welcomed its new year 7’s – over 165 of them on Tues 3rd & Weds 4th July. Students started off with a welcome assembly showing various performances and meeting new staff. Acting Headteacher Angela Rooke said ‘We’re oversubscribed this year and are keen to show these students why this is! As well as being the highest performing school in the borough, we are also unique in our approach to learning’
Our new students built on the transition activities that had already taken place, including friendship afternoons and team building prior to joining us. Some of the activities they undertook were medieval austerity studies (History – building a castle on a budget!), Why the environment could kill you in Geography, Science experiments and Maths masterclasses.
New students were also invited to the steel pans carnival, celebrating 20 years of community and school lessons. Images in the photo gallery show the big danceathon and some other activities undertaken during the day
