Giving you the EDGE
Hornsey Sixth Form provides us with the opportunities and support that help us to excel and gives us the edge for when we leave.
We realise that sixth form must go beyond academic success, and equip you with the skills and experience to prosper when your education stops. To succeed in the modern, fast paced world it is essential you can demonstrate transferable skills, resilience and a solution focused mind-set. At HSC giving you the EDGE means ensuring you can stand up to this challenge.
An education bespoke to you
We are a small, but mighty sixth form. This allows us to focus on your education in a way larger institutions can’t. In addition to your subject teachers you will be assigned a lead teacher who will guide and challenge you throughout your sixth form journey. They will understand your individual needs and aspirations, and help you to plan accordingly.
Just like at university, Wednesday afternoons at HSC are dedicated to enriching your experience and helping you to become the well-rounded individual you want to be. The list of opportunities is always growing, and if you have an idea you are encouraged to share it with us and together we will make it happen.
Partnering you with the best
At this age understanding life outside of school is critical to your development. We have formed a network of partnerships to provide you with the chance to experience reality beyond the college gates, including:
- The Access Project (hyperlink to ‘The Access Project at HSC’)- a charity that prepares you for applying to Russell Group universities by offering free one-to-one tuition sessions, university trips, mock interviews and UCAS training.
- Specialist Careers Information and Guidance councillor to provide impartial, but impactful, advice.
- National Careers Service - providing information, advice and guidance to help make decisions on learning, training and work.
- Girls network
- Into University
- Generation X
- Haringey Council
Giving you a voice
We believe your opinions matter, which is why we go further than other colleges to make sure you have a platform to voice them. This is typified by The Economist’s decision to host a launch event in our facilities this year.
We encourage all of our students to apply for the Senior Prefect Team. Not only does this help you to shape the direction of this dynamic sixth form, but it’s a fantastic way to bolster your CV and university application. We are here to make things happen, to make a difference to your future and inspire new ideas. Don’t just take our word for it though, read what our students say about us.
