At Hornsey School for Girls we want to ensure that your daughter's move from primary to secondary school is as smooth as possible. In current circumstances we haven't able to make the contact that we would wish to.

We will be updating this page for you as a way of communicating with you.

Below and on the link,  you will find a copy of the Year 6 transition admission pack Year-6-Transfer-Admissions-Pack-May-2021-revised-v1.docx. Please complete this and email it back to us (admin@hornseyschool.com) if you have the facilities to do so as soon as possible.

There's also 2 booklets below for our new families to introduce them to key people and some of the ways the school works. Apologies in advance  - there is a lot of information for your reference.

We are a committed 'tweeting school' and encourage all our families to join twitter to keep abreast of the things we do (@HornseySchool). When this page/ information is updated it will be tweeted there with a link.

School SMART days - Induction update 18/06/2021

Following the government announcement regarding an extension of current restrictions until 19th July, we will be conducting our induction events online over a series of evenings commencing on the 5th July and ending on the 16th July. Links will be sent via text message to all our families.

We can't wait to meet you, and whilst these events are virtual, our passion and enthusiasm for you joining our school is undimmed!

COVID-19 adjustments currently in place

We have undertaken an extensive programme of adaptation of our site to ensure it is Covid secure. As a result, we have a number of mobile handwashing units for student use, we have allocated 'zones' for year groups, and we have an enhanced cleaning and hygiene programme. A one way system is in place and movement around the site is restricted at present. Our year groups are timetabled into separate 'bubbles' and will have break, lunch and lessons securely separated from other year groups. Classroom design has been amended to ensure we can operate within social distancing guidelines where practicable and in line with current restrictions.

We will explain all of this during the first induction day on the 3rd September and there will be ample opportunity for Q+A from parents and carers as there is a short time we would like parents to attend.

Our new year 7 will have use of the site for Thursday and Friday and we hope that the time will support reduction in natural anxiety about return. Please note current government guidance does not recommend the use of masks in classrooms. Guidance may be amended and we will keep you informed if this is the case.

We recognise that a new school and these restrictions are a significant change for all and we want to assure you that the safety of your daughter and our staff remain paramount at all times.

Uniform updates for new school term

Uniform can be purchased from https://uniform-me.com/product-category/schools/hornsey-school-for-girls  Please note in the current climate the uniform suppliers are offering appointments only so you cannot just walk in.

Students are always expected to arrive at school in full school uniform. We place a strong emphasis at Hornsey on our girls looking smart and ready to learn. Our policy for students arriving in incorrect uniform is to send them home to change. A signed & dated note should be provided if there is reason why this is not possible. We all take pride in Hornsey’s uniform we also need to ensure all students, from September are wearing:

  • School blazer
  • School jumper/pullover
  • White shirt
  • Black school skirt/trousers (pleated or A line skirt and no leggings or jeggings)
  • Plain black school shoes/ trainers*  (no heels or sandals)
  • Lanyard in year group colour (these will be given to new yr 7)
  • ID card
  • Black coat or jacket preferred over the school blazer

The parent induction booklet has a number of forms for completion. We are sharing these to give an idea of the information and will share a link for these to be completed online at a later stage.

You may have received a reminder text about admissions booklets and free school meals - any queries please email to admin@hornseyschool.com

Thank you! Please do get in touch if you need anything,

 Keep safe and keep well.
