Talk Tuesday!

We were delighted to host Rebecca, through our brilliant HSA, who came in to speak with students about careers in Creative Industries. She has worked in post-production editing for over 18 years across a range of different programmes and genres.

Rebecca went through career paths, raising entry points and first jobs - especially the importance of being a runner! She outlined how this entry level role allows you to see across the different aspects of post-production and ensures you meet a broad range of roles. We were then taken through her own roles, from starting out on Thomas the Tank Engine to developing Documentaries, light entertainment shows including The Cube, X-Factor and 24 Hours in A&E. Moving onto the Body in the bag, explaining the research skills needed and the importance of nurturing relationships in industries where networks are critical in developing your own career - a really inspirational journey from an expert in her field. We were really lucky to have the opportunity to hear from her.

Students were able to ask questions throughout and they didn't disappoint. From asking about multi-cameras, post-production, the role of censors and how much influence producers have on shows, our students were really engaged.

The HSA funded a thank you sweet treat at the end of the talk! Some gallery images below
